Just how damaging can a bad ad be?
You may think one simple ad that appears once or twice on your site or app cannot do much harm, but to fully understand the impact one ad can have, you need look no further than Rihanna and the popular social app Snapchat.
Early in 2018, an advertisement served by a third party made light of domestic violence using Rihanna and Chris Brown as the punchline. The duo had dated a decade prior and eventually, Brown was convicted of domestic violence against Rihanna. The Grammy Award-winning artist, who at the time of the ad’s release had over 60 million followers on Instagram, blasted Snapchat on the rival social network.
